Freelance Work

After identifying a number of small businesses and nonprofit organizations in need of earned media, owned media and paid media services, I began freelancing as a media manager.

After working as an employee of Community Christian Church during high school, I began collaborating with the staff on a freelance basis to focus efforts solely on social media. I created a social media strategy guide that identified the purpose, platform differentiation, voice, feed theme, visual style and guidelines and objectives.

I wrote copy, created graphics, Instagram stories and edited photos for both the Facebook and Instagram accounts. Over two years, I increased the Instagram following from a little over 500 followers to around 1,500 followers and the Facebook following from around 4,600 likes to 5,500 likes.

Event Promotion Campaigns

Community Christian Church held a number of events each year ranging from kids events to large holiday services. Every other month, I ran Facebook and Instagram ads to raise awareness among the target audience for that specific event. I implemented other event promotion tactics for larger events like the annual Christmas at Community service. For the 2018 service, I submitted the event to calendar listings in local news sites, created a custom Advent calendar to engage families, provided invite graphics on the event website to encourage members to create their own social media post, made a Facebook frame and ran a paid social media campaign. The results are detailed in the evaluation report below.

Public Relations Efforts

I helped facilitate communications efforts for the Avnee Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded after Dr. Amit and Melissa Rawal lost their first child to Meningitis B. The Avnee Foundation is a Gainesville-based nonprofit working to educate, advocate, and vaccinate in an effort to Beat Meningitis B.

I led public relations efforts to get the foundation coverage in local newspapers. Leading up to World Meningitis Day 2019, I pitched an op-ed Dr. Amit Rawal wrote to the Gainesville Sun which gained valuable coverage in the Gainesville Sun. Read the published op-ed here.

Integrated Vaccine Program Campaign

The Avnee Foundation co-hosted Meningitis B vaccination clinics in Alachua County High Schools each spring. Key stakeholders in the success of the vaccination clinics were high school nurses. I co-presented at an Alachua County school nurses' meeting to educate nurses on the clinics, share the Avnee Foundation's mission and resource the nurses to promote the clinics in their schools. 

 

For the 2020 program, I created social media posts educating parents on how to fill out the permission slip for their students to participate in the program. In addition to organic social media posts, I created a Facebook ad targeting Alachua County High School parents that resulted in 161 link clicks to download the permission slip.
